Emmet County Recycling, Composting and Waste Transfer Station is the county's public recycling and waste facility, with its drop-off center at 7363 S Pleasantview Rd in Harbor Springs and an administrative office in Petoskey. The Pleasantview Road center takes a broad list of materials including cans, foil and scrap metal, cardboard and paper, glass, plastics, electronics, batteries, appliances, tires, mattresses, building materials, food scraps and yard trimmings. It is open 8am to 4pm weekdays and 8am to 3pm Saturdays, closed Sundays and major holidays. Beyond drop-off, the operation runs curbside recycling, neighborhood drop-off sites, household chemical drop-offs, document shredding, composting, and commercial recycling and food scrap collection, and sells compost, mulch and woodchips.
